Creative, Safe and Ethical AI

Generative AI offers opportunities to present responsible, ethical use cases. Though ethically sourced LLMs may be few and far between, AI agents and other AI systems can be used safely, ethically, and even creatively. The nature of the global supply chain, as a whole, unfortunately means that "ethical" products are oftentimes a marketing gimmick, rather than meaningful innovation, an issue that goes far beyond AI or even the tech industry. But starting with individuals who care, the future can be reshaped into one where open-source, ethical, and creative uses of AI are normalized.

For instance, I created the Creatrweb Data Art and Creatrweb 3D Art websites almost entirely using open-source AI tools and models, including Vibe CLI by Mistral AI and Opencode Go. The following artpieces were also generated by this platform.

While the piece is simple, it shows 1) the visual possibilities associated with abstracting data (this visualization is a result of abstracting a hate speech dataset) and 2) the capabilities of open-source AI tools not affiliated with American Big Tech companies. Mistral AI is a French tech AI research company, while Opencode Go exclusively uses open-source models from Chinese AI companies. Though the ethics of these alternatives may be debatable, one thing is clear: we can ease our reliance on Big Tech, one idea, one app, and one prompt at a time.

Meanwhile, this piece can be as simple or as complex as I want, depending entirely on which figures I include. In other words, this and the other 3D art pieces I create will evolve as I continue to change their host platform.
